Last Monday, I met with several window contractors, and signed a contract with one. In general, I'd say these guys were the sleaziest salesmen I have ever met. I hope I never have to go through this process again. I think we found a good, solid company to go with though. They are coming on Thursday to measure and then around the end of January, we should have new windows and sliding glass doors. Our current windows are metal-framed, single-paned, super low efficiency windows. The new ones are double-paned, vinyl windows (and sliding glass doors that actually open...one of ours barely opens because the frame is so bent). We should notice a fairly immediate impact on our power bill, which will be nice.
The housewarming party was a success. We had about 40 people total come over, including our real estate agent who for some reason decided to show up an hour and fifteen minutes before the party started. A good time was had by all, although I didn't really get to talk to Sarah at all for 4 hours because we were dividing and conquering the guests. :)
Christmas was fairly low-key this year. We went to a neighbor's house for Christmas Eve dinner, then on Christmas morning we had cinnamon rolls and Lil' Smokies for breakfast. In the afternoon, we went ice skating with the Waldman family. After ice skating, Sarah went with the ladies to the movies and I went with the guys to watch football. Once the movie was over, the ladies picked up Chinese food and we had a feast. Pretty relaxing day.
